Will we have winter in July?

Yes, those are the Alps, but no, not the Southern Alps of New Zealand.

In May 2013, we were up at the top of Jungfrau, Switzerland freezing our tails off (with two coats each) in the Swiss Alps. This photo is from “early Spring.”

Assuming we get the work visas (soon), we’ll be headed to Greymouth, which is sandwiched between the Tasman Sea and the Souhern Alps. Since NZ is in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are reversed. July is mid-winter; December is mid-summer. Depending on the date and two countries changing to daylight savings time at diffent points in the year, NZ is between 16 and 18 hours ahead of Eastern time (in East Tennessee). Most of our Tennessee day NZ is already into tomorrow. Winter is Summer, today is tomorrow. Oh my!

So the “issue before the Court” is whether THIS July, will we be hot in Tennessee or cold in New Zealand?
